Former Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jamie O'Hara has allegedly been charged with assaulting a teenage boy.

The 31-year-old currently plies his trade for semi-pro outfit Billericay Town in the seventh tier of English football after his career at professional level was thwarted by a recurring injury.

According to the Birmingham Mail, O'Hara is said to have "hit out" at a 16-year-old boy following his side's 3-2 defeat to Leatherhead in April.

A statement from Surrey Police read: "A 31-year-old man has been summonsed to court in relation to an assault on a teenage boy.

"The incident took place following a football match in Leatherhead on April 15. The man is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on November 10."

O'Hara joined Billericay in March following a stint on Channel 5 reality series Celebrity Big Brother.
