Scotland Yard launch an investigation into an incident in which a Tottenham Hotspur fan hurled a cup of his own urine during their EFL Cup clash with West Ham United.

Police have launched a probe into an incident in which a Tottenham Hotspur fan hurled a cup of urine during the team's EFL Cup defeat to West Ham United at Wembley Stadium.

The Spurs supporter filmed himself throwing the container towards the away end of the ground, although footage posted on Twitter appears to confirm that most of its contents doused home fans.

"The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is aware of footage circulating on social media which was reportedly recorded at the Spurs v West Ham game at Wembley on Wednesday, October 25," read a statement from Scotland Yard.

"A number of complaints were received by the MPS on 25 and 26 October in relation to the footage. Officers in the Public Order Unit will be investigating. No arrests have been made."

Spurs have issued a statement to The Metro condemning the perpetrator's behaviour as "completely unacceptable" and vowing to launch their own investigation into the incident.

Fans of both teams have hit out at the offending supporter on social media.
