BT Sport loses rights for UFC, NBA

BT Sport will soon stop broadcasting NBA basketball and the UFC after 'refusing to bid over the odds' for the right to screen the sports.

BT Sport has opted against becoming embroiled in a bidding war to broadcast NBA basketball and the UFC.

The broadcaster recently lost its right to screen Serie A football, and the company's sport channels will soon offer less variety with the loss of the NBA and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The NBA will disappear from scheduling at the end of October, while the UFC will only be shown on the channel until December 3.

A spokesperson told BBC: "We won't bid any more than the rights are worth to us."

BT added that it is planning to 'invest in more broadcast innovations' in the future.
