The BBC announces that football pundit Alan Shearer has signed a new four-year contract extension with the organisation.

Football pundit Alan Shearer has signed a contract extension with the BBC until 2020.

The former England captain and all-time top Premier League goalscorer is a regular analyst on highlights show Match of the Day and will be a key member of the BBC's Euro 2016 coverage this summer.

"I'm loving my broadcasting work with the BBC and I'm excited to continue my role working across its wide range of football coverage," Shearer told the organisation's website.

"I'm relishing working with some of my former teammates and the different experience football brings as a pundit rather than a player."

Shearer, 45, will also front a BBC documentary reflecting on 20 years since Euro 1996, when the forward helped England to the semi-finals of a home tournament.
