Manchester United announce record-breaking profits and revenue for the financial year which ended in June.

Manchester United have announced record-breaking profits and revenue for the latest financial year.

The Red Devils earned more than half a billion pounds for the second year running, raking in £581.2m in revenue.

The figures for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017 are an improvement on last year, when United posted revenue of £515.3m to become the first British club to break the half-a-billion mark.

Operating profits for the year just ended hit £80.8m and £199.8m before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, both of which also mark club records.

"We concluded a successful 2016/17 season with a total of three trophies and a return to Champions League football," Sky Sports News quotes United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward as saying.

"The year saw us set record revenues of over £581m and achieve a record earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization of £199.8m.

"We are pleased with the investment in our squad and look forward to an exciting season."

United, who returned to the top of the Deloitte Football Money League for the first time since 2005 in January, have forecast revenue of between £575m and £585m for the year ending June 30 next year.
