Liverpool are reportedly investigating claims that academy player Jordan Williams mocked the Munich air disaster in a tweet.

Liverpool are reportedly looking into claims that academy player Jordan Williams mocked the Munich air disaster in a tweet following his side's match against Manchester United in the Europa League.

The Reds celebrated on Thursday night after knocking their rivals out of the competition with a 3-1 win on aggregate in their last-16 tie.

According to The Peoples Person, Williams responded to a video of fans celebrating by tweeting a 'clapping hands' emoji and an image of an aeroplane.

Some Twitter users suggested that the Liverpool footballer was mocking the 1958 Munich air crash, which resulted in the deaths of 23 people, eight of whom were United players.

Williams is believed to have deleted the tweet and then deactivated his account, and now, according to PA, the club are investigating the allegations.

At the game itself, police arrested five people following a scuffle between fans.
