BBC 'to release unseen Hillsborough footage ahead of inquest'

The BBC reportedly agree to show unseen footage of the Hillsborough footage ahead of a new inquest in March.

The BBC have reportedly agreed to release unseen footage from the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 ahead of the fresh inquest next year.

An accidental verdict was originally given when 96 Liverpool fans died following a crush at the Hillsborough Stadium during an FA Cup semi-final 24 years ago.

However, following a lengthy campaign from the victims' families, a new inquest has been set for March 31, a date which Lord Justice John Goldring has ensured will go ahead, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports have claimed that the victims' families are opposed to any delays in the inquest.
