BT Sport announces that both the Champions League and Europa League finals will be made free-to-air on television and streamable on YouTube.

BT Sport has announced that both the Champions League and Europa League finals will be made free-to-air later this month.

The broadcaster said in a statement that the two showpieces would be shown on Freeview channel BT Sport Showcase, as well as being available to stream on its website and YouTube.

"We've always said we wanted to give top-quality sport back to the people, and making the UEFA Champions League and Europa League finals free to everyone in the UK does this in a big way," chief executive of BT Consumer John Petter said.

"We're also bringing BT Sport to a new generation of younger sports fans who view their entertainment online, through social media and on their mobile devices."

Liverpool and Sevilla will do battle for the Europa League crown on May 18 before neighbours Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid face off in the Champions League final for the second time in three years 10 days later.
