Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has slammed Twitter users who posted "vile" messages threatening to rape his daughter.

The England international's fiancee Rebecca Nicholson was subjected to the tweets after sharing images of the couple's one-year-old daughter Sofia wearing a Leicester shirt.

The pictures were taken at the King Power Stadium ahead of the Foxes' 1-0 win over Southampton on Sunday, which has put Claudio Ranieri's side seven points clear in the Premier League title race.

After the game, Vardy shamed the online trolls by posting a screengrab of their tweets and adding the message: "Shocking and vile."

The striker's partner responded individually to one user by writing: "There are no words for people like you! You need locking up."

Some of the Twitter accounts have been deleted, while others have been suspended.
