As sports betting is on a steady rise - basically since forever - a lot of online bookmakers are on the market these days, all offering their own individual attractive offers and bonuses for new customers.

Today we want to take a look at some of the promotions you can find and generally take a look at some of the bookies out there and their offers.

What are common bonus offers that you can find with most bookies?
One of the most popular offers to new customers are of course free bets. They allow for a new customer to take a look at the platform and bet placement and generally get a good feeling as to how the website is built. A free bet is always attractive because it fits both styles, risky multiway-betting or single bets, depending on the preferred betting style.

We will take a closer look at different betting styles at a later point in this article.

One of the most popular bookies, BetFair, also offers free bets and other bonuses to its new customers. You can find their offers under: https://bettingalternative.link/betfair/

Another very popular offer are welcome bonuses, where you can an extra amount of money into your betting balance for your first (or in some cases first few) deposits. This can either be used for multiple bets, or if you intended to play with a bookie to bet big on one specific match, you can increase the size of that bet even further.

Popular styles of betting (Football):
Individual match - predict winner:
The simplest and by far the most popular style of betting on Football matches is to predict the winner (or a draw) on a single match. People either bet on matches they consider safe, an underdog they expect to win (which most of the times comes with really attractive odds) or even their favourite team to win. This is also considered one of the safest, most predictable bets because you can do your research on the teams and oftentimes come up with a favourite.

Individual match - correct score:
A more riskier and in the same way also more rewarding way of betting on football matches is to predict the correct score of a match. The more unlikely the bookie considers a result to be, the higher your odds will be. So for example betting on a 1-0 or 2-0 will come with rather low odds compared to a more unpredictable score like say a 5-1.

Individual match - halftime/fulltime:
Another very popular bet is HT/FT. Here you predict the winner after 45 minutes and the winner at the end of the game. Odds here can go up as high as 40 or even 50 by betting on a team to lead the first half and the other team to then come back and win the game. This is considered a high-risk bet but therefore also comes with a high reward. It can also be used as a way to get better odds when betting on a favourite and predicting for them to win both halves (or take the lead in the first half and hanging on to it in the second).

Multiway - predict winner/score
While certainly one of the riskiest betting variations, this also has the highest potential return of investment. When multiway betting you can bet as many matches as you wish in a single bet while having their individual odds multiplied. To give an example of the potential we can compare a five-way bet to five individual bets (we will use odds of 2 for simplification in the example):

Five bets on odds of 2.0 individually with a bet-size of £10 each → potential win if all five matches are correct → £100 (£20 per correct match)

A five-way bet with five times 2.0 odds and a betsize of £50 → potential win of £1,600 if all five matches are correct

As you can see the difference is huge, however the multiway bet only wins if all five are correct.
