Three fans are charged with battery over an incident during Everton's Europa League defeat to Lyon.

Three Everton supporters have been charged with battery over an incident which occurred during the club's Europa League clash with Lyon at Goodison Park.

A melee involving players and fans broke out at the front of the Lower Gwladys Street end of the stadium during the Group E match last October.

During the spat, one supporter is said to have confronted Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Michael Darren Fitzpatrick, Callum McCready and Daniel John Helbert have been charged over the incident and are due to appear in court in May, reports BBC Sport.

Lyon won the match 2-1 and Everton failed to make it out of the group.
