The Football Association condemns the behaviour of England fans after one was arrested following a scuffle in Marseille.

The Football Association has condemned the behaviour of violent England supporters after a melee broke out in Marseille on the eve of Euro 2016.

At around midnight on Thursday, riot police used tear gas to break up a scuffle outside the Queen Victoria pub in the Old Port district of the city.

The National Police Chiefs' Council revealed that one England fan was arrested after a "short confrontation" occurred when around 70 local youths approached the pub.

England supporters have gathered in Marseille for the Three Lions' opening Euro 2016 game against Russia on Saturday.

In response to the disorder, the FA released a statement which read: "We are really disappointed by the scenes of disorder in Marseille yesterday evening and condemn such behaviour.

"It is in the hands of the authorities to identify those involved and deal with them appropriately. The FA urges supporters who are travelling to Marseille to act in a respectful manner and enjoy the match against Russia."

England will also take on Wales and Slovakia in their group.
