Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon 'charged with assault'

Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon is charged with assault and the possession of a weapon after an incident at a nightclub in Surrey.

Surrey Police have said that Jason Puncheon was arrested for assault and possession of a weapon after an incident at a Surrey nightclub on Saturday night.

According to The Sun, the Crystal Palace midfielder became embroiled in a incident with one man and two girls outside of Mishiko, and it led to the arrest of the 31-year-old.

Puncheon was kept in cells overnight before being released at 2pm on Sunday afternoon, and Surrey Police have released a statement to confirm the arrest.

It read: "Jason Puncheon has been charged with a section 4 public order offence — causing fear or provocation of violence, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault.

"He has been released on bail to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court."

Puncheon has made 11 appearances for Palace in all competitions this season, although his last outing came on November 18.
