Convicted paedophile Barry Bennell has been charged with eight offences of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14.
The former football coach was taken to hospital earlier this week after being found unconscious, days after being named by a handful of former players as the man who allegedly abused them as children.
Former professional footballers Andy Woodward and Steve Walters have publicly stated that Bennell abused them while they were part of the youth setup at Crewe Alexandra.
Meanwhile, former Manchester City player David White also named Bennell as his abuser, while Paul Stewart has come forward to claim that he suffered abuse from an unnamed coach in an investigation that has rocked football.
In 1994, Bennell was sentenced to four years in prison for raping a British boy on a football tour of Florida, and in 1998 he was given a nine-year sentence for 23 offences against boys aged between nine and 15.
The now 62-year-old was convicted again in 2015 after admitting to abusing a boy at a camp in Macclesfield in 1980.
Now, Bennell has been hit with another charge after the Crown Prosecution Service had reviewed a file of evidence from Cheshire Police relating to allegations of more abuse.
The ex-football coach has also been charged with two counts of inciting a boy under 14 to commit an act of gross indecency, and a further count of assault with intent to commit buggery.
Bennell is set to appear at South Cheshire Magistrates' Court on December 14.
