Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz billed £89 for damage to penalty spot

Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz is billed £89 for scuffing up the penalty spot at FC Koln's stadium.

Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz has been billed £89 for damage that he caused to the penalty spot at the Mungersdorferstadion.

The 28-year-old was seen deliberately trying to scuff up the spot shortly after FC Koln were awarded a penalty during Saturday's game.

Anthony Modeste slipped when he took the penalty, which was saved by Hitz, and the game ended in a 1-0 win for Augsburg.

According to German newspaper Express, Koln sent an invoice for €122.92 (£89.24) to Hitz, which he has agreed to pay.

On Augsburg's Facebook page, the goalkeeper wrote: "If the bill was sent with a wink, I would like to pay on receipt, even if I think that our groundsman could mend the penalty spot faster."

FC Koln have claimed that they will donate the sum to a children's charity.

Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur FC is congratulated on scoring the opening goal by Son Heung-min during the UEFA Europe League match between Qarabag FK and Tottenham Hotspur FC at Tofig Bahramov Republican stadium on November 26, 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
