Racist abuse from Sporting Gijon supporters aimed towards Athletic Bilbao's Inaki Williams forces referee Clos Gomez to temporarily halt play at El Molinon.

Play had to be suspended during the first half of Sporting Gijon's 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday due to home supporters' racist chanting towards Inaki Williams.

Proceedings were halted by referee Clos Gomez towards the half-hour mark after Williams received abuse from Gijon fans at El Molinon following a shove on Isma Lopez.

Sporting's players tried to silence their supporters in an attempt to get the game to resume, while an announcement was made over the tannoy to remind those in attendance that racist abuse would not be tolerated.

Gomez did allow play to continue soon after, with Williams providing an assist for Borja Viguera late on in the match for what proved to be a mere consolation.
