Paul Casey and Martin Laird are well positioned in Napa Valley following a rain-disrupted third round at the Safeway Open, which was halted before it could be completed.

British pair Paul Casey and Martin Laird remain in the mix after a rain-disrupted third day at the Safeway Open in California.

Bad weather saw play halted with the final group ahead of the 16th hole, meaning that the third round will not conclude until this afternoon.

The fourth and final round will then get underway, with Casey and Laird well placed behind overnight leader Johnson Wagner who leads on 15-under-par after 15 holes.

Casey is two shots back as things stand, despite a double-bogey on the fifth which he recovered from to card three birdies in all at Napa Valley.

Laird is further back on 12-under after 16 holes, meanwhile, dropping one shot on the 12th but doing enough to remain in fifth place ahead of the resumption of play.

Michael Kim's round of 65 leaves him on 11-under for the tournament, while five-time Major winner Phil Mickelson is on nine-under in a tie for 10th.
