Alexander Levy squanders a four-shot overnight lead at the European Open, but keeps his cool to eventually see off Ross Fisher in a playoff round.

Alexander Levy has edged out Ross Fisher at the second playoff hole to claim victory at the European Open.

The Frenchman holed a long-range birdie after earlier seeing his four-shot overnight lead disappear on the fourth and final day of the fog-delayed tournament.

Fisher fired a bogey-free round of 64 to take things all the way, capitalising fully on his opponent's four dropped shots - two of which came on the final three holes - but was unable to hold his nerve in the sudden-death situation.

The pair exchanged pars on the first playoff hole at Bad Griesbach, before Levy claimed his third European Tour title with a 25-footer on his next visit to the 18th.

Martin Kaymer, a wildcard pick for Europe in next week's Ryder Cup, finished in sixth spot, while Thomas Pieters was 14 strokes adrift of the pacesetters on five-under.
