Rickie Fowler admits that he is "very" disappointed to card eight-over-par 80 in his first round at The Masters.

Rickie Fowler has admitted that he was left "very" disappointed after carding eight-over-par 80 in the opening round of The Masters at Augusta National on Thursday.

The 27-year-old made three birdies, but his form on the course crumbled when he suffered four bogeys, two double bogeys and a triple bogey.

After his round, Fowler told reporters: "Golf's not an easy game. It is a fine line, especially at this place.

"I go play a decent back nine and I'm three‑under par. It can go either way and it can definitely go the other way, the high number way, a lot easier than it can the low."

Fowler's best finish at a Masters was tied-fifth in 2014.
