Ian Poulter confirms that he will be out for up to four months and may miss the Ryder Cup due to a foot injury.

Ian Poulter is a doubt for September's Ryder Cup after being ruled out for four months with a foot injury.

The 40-year-old has been struggling with an arthritic joint in his right foot for some time, restricting his ability to walk and practise, and has dropped down to number 85 in the world after missing the cut on the last two PGA tournaments.

According to The AP, Poulter confirmed on Friday that he would be out of action until later this year while he 'rests and recovers' from the problem.

Poulter has featured for Europe in the last four editions of the Ryder Cup.
