Jonathan Rea denied chance to make Superbike history

Severe weather hit the Losail circuit and brought an early end to the season in Qatar.

World champion Jonathan Rea was denied a chance to end the season by breaking more records after the final race of the season was cancelled due to safety concerns.

The Losail circuit in Qatar was hit by thunderstorms earlier in the day which put the final race in doubt.

Amid concerns for the riders safety, the race was cancelled, denying Rea the chance to break Doug Polen’s record of 17 wins in a single season.

Rea was also denied the opportunity to break his own record of points won in a season and finished 21 shy of the 566 points he won last year.
