Lewis Hamilton is just two points off the Formula 1 World Championship after winning the Russian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton won his ninth race of the season after leading for the majority of the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.

The 30-year-old now needs just two points from the US Grand Prix to win the world title for a third time after Nico Rosberg retired early on with a throttle problem.

Mercedes have also won the constructors' championship after Kimi Raikkonen was demoted to eighth after causing a crash at the end of the race.

Sebastian Vettel finished in second while Sergio Perez found himself in third after initally being passed by Raikkonen and Valtteri Bottas before the Finn collided with the Williams' car.

Romain Grosjean was involved in a heavy crash against the side barrier but the Frenchman managed to leave the wreckage unscathed.
