Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says that trying to win his second Formula 1 drivers title will be the "biggest day" of his life as he prepares for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton has said that today is the "biggest day" of his life as he prepares to clinch a second Formula 1 drivers title.

The Briton will add to his 2008 championship if he finishes second or higher at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, but can still lose out to Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who starts from pole position, if he misses out on a place in the top two.

The 29-year-old told BBC Sport: "You can't really measure how big it is. It is obviously the biggest day of my life.

"You want to get the pole, but just because I'm second doesn't mean we can't win. My number one focus [today] is just doing the best I can and driving the way I have been driving for quite some time."

If Hamilton can clinch the title, he will be the first Briton to have won more than one championship since Sir Jackie Stewart, who won his second of three in 1971.
