Wolverhampton Wanderers announce the signing of Joao Teixeira from Benfica on a season-long loan.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that Benfica midfielder Joao Teixeira has agreed to join the club on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old, who scored two goals and created three assists in 19 appearances for the Portuguese team last season, is the first arrival since Walter Zenga's appointment as manager.

The Championship outfit appointed Zenga on Saturday, less than 12 hours after sacking Kenny Jackett.

Wolves will be heading into the 2016-17 campaign with new ownership following the £30m takeover of Chinese firm Fosun International.

Today, shortly after Zenga's official unveiling to the press, Wolves tweeted: "It has been confirmed that João Teixeira is set to join Wolves on a season-long loan from @SLBenfica."

Teixeira has represented Portugal at all youth levels, but is yet to earn a senior cap.
