Bristol City are reportedly lining up a £1.2m bid for the services of Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Joe Mason.

The 26-year-old moved to Molineux in January 2016 from Cardiff City in a deal thought to be worth £3.3m but has been less than prolific for the Midlands side since, scoring just three goals in 19 Championship appearances last term.

Reorganising the frontline is one of the key priorities for new Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo this summer, and he has already sold on Jon Dadi Bodvarsson while bringing in Brazilian striker Leo Bonatini on loan.

According to the Bristol Post, City boss Lee Johnson is keen to bring in Mason as a backup for Famara Diedhiou, a £5.3m summer signing from Angers.

Wolves, meanwhile, are thought to have rejected a deadline-day bid for Mason from City last summer and are unlikely to take such a significant hit on his transfer fee.
