Raul Jimenez insists that Wolverhampton Wanderers will aim for a Champions League spot this season.

Raul Jimenez has insisted that Wolverhampton Wanderers will aim for a Champions League spot this season.

The Midlands club qualified for the Europa League last season following a remarkable campaign during which they finished seventh on 57 points.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have continued to impress in Europe this term, claiming historic away wins at Besiktas and Slovan Bratislava.

Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, Jimenez said: "We want to do something special. Why not think about the Champions League? It will be difficult but we only finished nine points behind the top six last season so why not think bigger?

"It's not going to fall from the sky, we need to work for it. You have to have a big target. If we were just happy with tenth place, it doesn't feel important. When you dream big, I think you can do it better."

The Portuguese forward netted Wolves' winner during the 2-1 win in Slovakia to take the Premier League side into second place in Group K.

However, despite an admirable foray in Europe during the early stages of the season, Wolves find themselves 13th in the table after nine games.
