Wolverhampton Wanderers legend Steve Bull describes midfielder Ruben Neves as one of the best players to ever represent the club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers legend Steve Bull has claimed that Ruben Neves is one of the best players to ever represent the West Midlands outfit.

Last summer, Wolves pulled off a huge coup to sign Neves from Porto, and the Portuguese international has played a significant role in helping the club sit at the top of the Championship table.

Bull has acknowledged that the 21-year-old will attract interest from some of the biggest clubs in European football during the summer, but Wolves' top goalscorer in history is hopeful that Neves will spend at least one more campaign at Molineux.

The 52-year-old told the Express & Star: "Neves's passing, his movement and his control of the game is just absolutely superb. He's only 21 but you wouldn't guess that from watching him because he's got an old head on young shoulders.

"It may sound like a big statement but I really think he's one of the best I've seen in gold and black. I've watched plenty of players at Wolves over the years – a few of them couldn't run, pass or cross. Neves is outstanding and we should all enjoy him while we can, which hopefully is for a while yet.

"There'll be speculation all over the place about him this summer as there'll be big Premier League teams and loads from across Europe looking at him. Fingers crossed, he wants to carry on this journey at Wolves for the time being as it's clearly a club going places."

On Friday night, Neves featured in Portugal's starting lineup as the European champions recorded a 2-1 win over Egypt.
