Reece Oxford is said to have been left unhappy with his treatment at Borussia Monchengladbach after failing to play a single minute during his short loan stint.

West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford has reportedly been left disappointed after seeing his loan stint with Borussia Monchengladbach cut short before making a single appearance.

The 18-year-old was unable to break into the Foals' first-team ranks during his two months in Germany, instead finding himself as an unused sub on numerous occasions.

Oxford, who spent last term on loan with Reading in the Championship, has now returned to the London Stadium where he is expected to battle for a squad place in the second half of the season.

According to The Sun, however, the versatile defender is unhappy with Gladbach's decision to constantly overlook him in the opening months of the season.

"Reece hoped the move to Germany would work out better than it has, but it's time to come back," a source close to the player is quoted as saying by the publication.

"Monchengladbach play a certain way and had a system in place before they signed Reece, and for some reason he has not fitted into what they are doing. If he's not going to feature after they were hammered 6-1, then when will he?"

Oxford burst onto the scene with an impressive debut display against Arsenal in August 2015, but he has struggled for playing time in East London over the past two years.
