Marko Arnautovic hails West Ham United's summer transfer business

West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic says that he is happy with the developments made by his side on the field since the end of last season.

Marko Arnautovic has declared himself pleased with West Ham United's summer transfer business and says that his new-look side are gradually clicking into gear.

Only Liverpool have a bigger net spend than the Hammers since the end of last season, having splashed out a reported £88m on seven new players - two of those being free signings.

Each of United's recent recruits featured in Saturday's 2-1 friendly win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road, and Arnautovic believes that partnerships are starting to form with just a fortnight to go before the season begins.

"I think the players who have come in have done a good job, but the most important thing is the Premier League and I hope they can show their quality there as well," he told the club's official website.

"We had a good transfer window and there are a lot of challenges in each position. I think every game we are improving. We had a lot of games this week and have more next week and we try to get better and better in every game.

"We are trying to work on the basics that the gaffer wants from us, but it is not always easy because the other teams, especially the Championship teams, are one or two weeks ahead of us and they're really physical because they're coming to the end of pre-season because they start next week."

West Ham face Mainz 05 and Angers in their final two friendlies before travelling to Liverpool on August 12.
