West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang could miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.

West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang has undergone surgery on a knee injury, which could reportedly keep him out for the rest of the season.

Last month, Obiang suffered medial ligament damage in a tackle with Wigan Athletic's Max Power, with the incident leading to his withdrawal from the FA Cup tie at the DW Stadium.

Manager David Moyes has previously suggested that the club needed to wait for the injury to settle down before making a decision over his recovery period but according to Sky Sports News, the 25-year-old underwent an operation at the weekend.

Obiang is expected to spend at least two-and-a-half months on the sidelines, leading to the possibility of the Spaniard missing the rest of the campaign.

The former Sampdoria man has made 23 starts and three substitute appearances for the Hammers in all competitions this season.
