3.41am – Conor McGregor called on the Irish military to be deployed to help enforce the country’s lockdown.

9.30am – West Ham have eight players in self-isolation showing mild symptoms of coronavirus, Hammers vice-chairman Karren Brady revealed in her column in The Sun.

10.00am – QPR manager Mark Warburton told the PA news agency that the current season must be completed – even if it takes until the end of the year to do so – as he called on organisers to offer clarity with a realistic restart date.

12.30pm – Premier League stars could be told by their clubs to use the coronavirus shutdown as their main close-season break, the PA news agency understands.

2.00pm – Former England captain Alastair Cook told BBC Radio 5 Live that he would rather the County Championship was not played at all this season than attempting to hold a dramatically condensed campaign.

2.15pm – World number 10 Tommy Fleetwood said he believes the golf schedule will be built around the four majors and the Ryder Cup whenever the season resumes after the pandemic. Fleetwood told BBC Radio 5 Live that he also hopes that the Ryder Cup can act as an “amazing torch” at the end of the crisis.

3.41pm – Promoter Eddie Hearn vowed to reward NHS staff fighting the coronavirus pandemic with 200 free tickets to all his major boxing shows over the next 12 months.

6.37pm – Juventus announced that their players have agreed to waive four months’ wages due to the pandemic.

10.49pm – Manchester City opened up the use of the Etihad Stadium’s executive boxes and conference rooms to help the NHS with training of doctors and nurses during the crisis, PA understands.
