West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis says that Jonny Evans is not for sale and will be named captain for next season.

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has insisted that Jonny Evans is not for sale and will be the club's new captain next season.

Last month it was reported that the defender was considering his future after Leicester City tabled a £10m bid.

However, Pulis has claimed that the Northern Irishman, who has been offered the skipper's armband after it was vacated by Darren Fletcher, is not going anywhere this summer.

"Jonny Evans is staying at West Bromwich Albion football club. There is no doubt about that," the Express & Star quotes Pulis as saying.

"Jonny will be our captain next season. I've spoken to Jonny earlier in pre-season, he had a fantastic year last year and we're hoping he steps up. He's never been given this responsibility before."

West Brom will take on Leicester in the Premier League Asia Trophy at the Hong Kong Stadium on Wednesday.
