Smith still in contention for Baggies job?
Brentford boss Dean Smith is reportedly still a major contender for the West Bromwich Albion job, currently held by caretaker boss Darren Moore.

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly maintained an interest in speaking to Brentford boss Dean Smith over the club's vacant managerial position.

The Baggies are currently trying to retain their place in the Premier League, but with relegation to the Championship looking increasingly likely, the club must consider their options for the second tier.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster wants caretaker boss Darren Moore to be given the role on a permanent basis after eight points were registered in four matches in the top flight, but it appears that the former centre-back has competition.

According to the Daily Mail, Smith is still a major candidate for the position having impressed during his time at Brentford, with 51 wins and 28 draws coming from his 127 matches in charge since leaving Walsall.

Smith was also born in West Bromwich and while happy with life at Griffin Park, the 47-year-old would likely be open to holding discussions with the Baggies hierarchy.
