West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis confirms that Saido Berahino has been put on a special training programme in a bid to improve his fitness.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has said that Saido Berahino has "bought into" the training plan designed to improve his fitness.

Despite remaining at The Hawthorns during the summer transfer window, Berahino finds himself out of favour at the club, and earlier this week it was suggested that he had been given a special training programme to follow in an attempt to boost his performances.

Pulis has acknowledged that the attacker has accepted that he must "get himself fit" if he wants to earn a return to the first team.

The 58-year-old told reporters: "We've put a fitness programme in place and we're hoping and praying that it'll help him get back. The lad has bought into it and wants to get himself fit."

Berahino will not feature in the squad to face Liverpool this weekend.
