Result: Watford put four past Blackpool at Vicarage Road

Braces from Troy Deeney and Mathias Ranegie see Watford thrash Blackpool 4-0 in the Championship.

Watford have thrashed Blackpool 4-0 at Vicarage Road this afternoon to extend the Seasiders' winless run to 16 Championship matches.

The hosts forced their opponents back in the early stages, with Troy Deeney a constant threat.

The striker held off the attention of Kirk Broadfoot to get a shot away at the near post, but it was a comfortable stop for Matthew Gilks.

However, the Hornets did manage to break the deadlock with 15 minutes played. Daniel Tozser floated in a corner and forward Mathias Ranegie thumped his header past Gilks.

The first real opportunity for Blackpool came with over 20 minutes played, but Ricardo Fuller powered a long-range effort over the bar.

Their lack of attacking threat cost them with 10 minutes left in the first half. A neat one-two saw Deeney fire past Gilks with the aid of a deflection to make it 2-0.

Blackpool's day soon got worse, however, as Watford grabbed their third of the afternoon. Ranegie won possession from Gary MacKenzie, exchanged passes with Christian Battocchio and then finished with ease.

Watford were comfortable after the interval and increased their advantage when Deeney curled a shot into the top corner after Battocchio had pushed his way through the middle.
