Tom Cleverley says that Watford manager Marco Silva has the ability to get the best out of each of his players, having inspired them to a 2-1 win over Arsenal.

Watford midfielder Tom Cleverley has praised boss Marco Silva for inspiring his side to a 2-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday evening.

The Hornets recovered from a goal down to come out on top and maintain their fine start to the season, which has seen them claim 15 points from their first eight games.

Silva, who was unable to keep Hull City in the Premier League last season despite working wonders, has been credited by Cleverley for instilling a winning mentality at Vicarage Road since taking charge in the summer.

"He is trying to change our mentality of being a club that maybe settles for drawing games," he told talkSPORT. "He wants to turn us into a club that goes in with a mentality of believing in ourselves every game. That is exactly what he said at half time and I thought that changed the game.

"We were a little bit tentative in the first half. As a manager, he has got that perfect balance of having a bit of a fear factor and being approachable at the same time."

Asked about his late winner against the Gunners, Cleverley added: "I've not scored for the club since I've been back here so it was playing on my mind but, in the end, it was worth the wait.

"I know I can finish, and it turns those six and seven out of ten performances into eight and nine out of ten performances if you can get yourself a goal or assist, so it is something I want to keep doing, keep working on and adding to my game."

Watford, currently fourth in the Premier League table, head to Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime in their next outing.
