Watford were worthy winners over Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, according to skipper Troy Deeney.

Watford captain Troy Deeney has insisted that his side deserve their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

The Hornets overcame holders Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon to reach the last four for the first time since 2007.

"I thought we deserved it," striker Deeney told BT Sport after the final whistle.

"We stuck to the gameplan well, counter-attacked well and had opportunities."

Watford have never previously won the competition, with their best performance coming in 1984 when they finished runners-up to Everton.
