Chris Coleman tells Hal Robson-Kanu that he faces the prospect of being dropped for the upcoming qualifier with Moldova due to his lack of playing time in recent weeks.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has revealed that Hal Robson-Kanu faces a battle to earn a starting spot for the qualifier with Moldova due to his lack of playing time.

The former Reading winger has been on the search for a new club since departing the Madejski Stadium as a free agent earlier this summer.

Robson-Kanu was linked heavily with a move to Hull City before Steve Bruce left the club, while Spanish sides Sevilla and Atletico Madrid were also said to be interested in the 27-year-old.

With three days of the transfer window left to run, however, and Wales's opening World Cup qualifier now just one week away, Robson-Kanu - a key member in the Dragons' run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 - is still out of work.

Asked if his selection was in doubt, Coleman told BBC Sport: "Yes, of course. We know what he's capable of. But I will know when they're all with us. In the training sessions and the preparation I'll know who's really on it ready [to play].

"I'll look at the players, see who's ready physically and psychologically. If I have to upset one or two it's not the first time I've done it."

Coleman will be without fellow midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Jonny Williams for the Cardiff City Stadium fixture, with both players ruled out through injury.
