Assistant manager Olexandr Zavarov says that Andriy Shevchenko will join the Ukraine coaching staff.

Andriy Shevchenko is set to join the Ukraine coaching staff, according to the team's assistant manager.

Olexandr Zavarov told Ukrainian sports channel Football 1 that Shevchenko will bring new ideas to the Ukraine coaching set-up.

The former AC Milan and Chelsea striker was offered the Ukraine manager's job in 2012 but turned it down due to a lack of coaching badges.

The 39-year-old has since completed the UEFA Pro Licence and will join up with the national team during Euro 2016.

Shevchenko is Ukraine's record goalscorer, with 48 goals in 111 appearance, and won the Ballon d'Or in 2004.
