Result: Sydney FC, Brisbane Roar play out goalless draw

Sydney FC remain top of the A-League table after playing out a goalless draw with Brisbane Roar.

Sydney FC have extended their unbeaten record and maintained their position at the top of the A-League table with a 0-0 draw with Brisbane Roar.

Sydney created the first opportunity of the match as early as the fifth minute, with Shane Smeltz forcing a good save out of Jamie Young, before the striker was denied again after being sent clear of the Brisbane defence.

It took until after the half-hour mark for Brisbane to show any attacking intent, but when they did, Jamie Maclaren saw an effort blocked by Sydney defender Sebastian Ryall.

Chances continued to be few and far between after the restart, with Alex Brosque having the best opening when capitalising on a mistake, but he could not find a way past Young.

As the game entered the closing stages, both Andrew Hoole and Rhyan Grant were presented with chances, but after neither could take full advantage, Brisbane were able to confirm the draw they required to move into second place in the standings.
