A report claims that Sam Allardyce will remain the manager of Sunderland next season, even if the club finds itself in the Championship.

Sam Allardyce has reportedly decided to remain Sunderland manager next season, regardless of what division the club is playing in.

There have been widespread suggestions that Allardyce, who took over at the Stadium of Light in October, would walk away if he was unable to keep the Black Cats in the Premier League.

However, should the Wearsiders drop into the Championship, the 61-year-old will stay put as long as he is given enough to funds to launch a promotion challenge, according to The Telegraph.

Sunderland are two points adrift of safety, although they do have a game in hand on fourth-from-bottom Norwich City.
