Stoke City defender Marc Muniesa is reported to be on the verge of a move to newly-promoted La Liga club Girona.

Stoke City defender Marc Muniesa has edged closer to a move to newly-promoted La Liga club Girona, according to reports.

The 25-year-old was restricted to just 11 games last season for the Potters and is rumoured to be seeking a move away in a bid to get more first-team football.

According to Sky Sports News, Muniesa said his goodbyes to teammates at the Stoke training ground on Tuesday and is expected to complete his move before the weekend.

A separate report, in the Daily Mail, claims that the Catalans want Muniesa on loan for the 2017-18 season with a view to making the deal permanent next summer should they stay up.

Muniesa joined Stoke from Barcelona in 2013 on a free transfer and has made 67 appearances in total for the Potters.
