Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to wait for Everton to lower their asking price for Ross Barkley as the transfer window progresses, according to reports.

Tottenham Hotspur have expressed a willingness to wait for Everton to lower their asking price for Ross Barkley as the transfer window progresses, according to reports.

The 23-year-old midfielder, whose contract expires next summer, is rumoured to be on the way out of Goodison Park after stalling on an extension to his current deal, with Ronald Koeman reportedly keen to move the player on.

According to Sky Sports News, Everton value Barkley at £50m, which is deemed too high by Spurs, but they will keep monitoring the England international until the window's deadline.

The report also suggests that the North London club will not rule out moving for a different target should an attractive deal present itself.

Barkley is a product of the Toffees' academy, making his debut in 2011, and has made over 175 appearances, scoring 27 goals.
