Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Hoffenheim and Germany Under-21 full-back Jeremy Toljan.

Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in signing Germany Under-21s defender Jeremy Toljan, according to reports.

The 22-year-old Hoffenheim defender, who can play in either full-back position, has just one year remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga club.

According to Portuguese newspaper Record Sport, Benfica were hoping to make a move for Toljan, but have withdrawn their interest as they feel unable to compete with Tottenham's financial clout.

Toljan, who made his debut for Hoffenheim aged 18 in 2013, has been capped at every level for Germany from U17 to U21, and was part of the side that won the Under-21 European Championship last month.

Other clubs previously rumoured to be interested in Toljan, who is said to be valued at £3m, include Napoli and Chelsea.
