Harry Kane admits that he dreams of breaking Alan Shearer's Premier League scoring record after bagging his 21st goal of the season against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has admitted that he has thought about breaking the all-time Premier League goalscoring record of Alan Shearer.

Kane, 22, equalled his 2014-15 tally of 21 by scoring twice in Spurs' 3-0 win over Bournemouth yesterday, becoming this season's top marksman in the process.

In total, Kane has 45 top-flight goals and he is the first player since Ruud van Nistelrooy to score 20 goals in his first two full Premier League seasons.

He is 215 short of Shearer's all-time record, but admits that he does "dream" of breaking his idol's mark.

"It's a lot of goals and I'm still a long way off but Shearer was an idol of mine growing up, to see how many goals he scored was incredible," PA quotes Kane as saying.

"I take it season by season. I don't like looking too far ahead because you never know what can happen.

"But is it good to aim for? Definitely, they're the goals you dream of."

Kane also became only the fifth Englishman - after Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Andy Cole and Robbie Fowler - to hit 20 goals in consecutive Premier League campaigns.
