Newcastle United loanee Danny Rose lavishes praise on Jonjo Shelvey, claiming that the midfielder boasts the best passing range in the Premier League.

Newcastle United loanee Danny Rose has lavished praise on teammate Jonjo Shelvey, claiming that the midfielder's passing range is the best in the Premier League.

Rose played with Shelvey at international level for England under Roy Hodgson, but only recently joined up with him at club level after signing for the Magpies from Tottenham Hotspur in January.

The full-back has been impressed with what he has seen from the former Liverpool midfielder so far, suggesting that no other player in the league can match him from a deep-lying role.

"Jonjo for me is the type of player, when on his game, that I would pay to watch. He's absolutely brilliant in that central position," Rose is quoted as saying by the Newcastle Chronicle.

"The way he dictates the game and his range of passing is the best in the Premier League. I played with him for England. I am so fortunate to play with him again now at Newcastle. For me, he is absolutely brilliant.

"When he is playing in that deep lying role and dictating play, there's nobody that touches him in this league for me. As I say he is just sheer class."

Shelvey recently agreed a new contract at St James' Park keeping him at the club until 2023.
