How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Leyton Orient

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up in Tuesday's EFL Cup third-round clash with Leyton Orient.

Tottenham Hotspur's journey in the 2020-21 EFL Cup will begin on Tuesday night as they prepare to take on League Two outfit Leyton Orient.

Spurs will enter the match off the back of an impressive 5-2 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and have now won their last two games in all competitions.

Jose Mourinho will be determined to bring a trophy to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, but an incredibly crowded fixture list means that wholesale changes are expected to occur for this game.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham could line up against Orient.

Tottenham will be without the services of Japhet Tanganga due to a thigh problem, while new signing Gareth Bale is out until October with a knee injury and will therefore not be involved in any capacity.

Mourinho is expected to make wholesale changes from the side that faced Southampton, and there could be a debut for former England number one Joe Hart between the sticks, while Dele Alli could come into the side despite the recent speculation surrounding his future.

Gedson Fernandes and Moussa Sissoko are also likely to come into the XI, while the same can be said for Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn.

Ryan Sessegnon and Juan Foyth will also be hoping for opportunities to impress, while new signing Sergio Reguilon could be involved despite some concerns surrounding his fitness.

There are also likely to be a number of youngsters in the squad, and there could be a starting role for 18-year-old defender Dennis Cirkin on the left side of the back four.

Tanguy Ndombele was substituted at the interval of the clash with Southampton, but Mourinho insisted after the match that the Frenchman was not injured, and he could be involved in this game.
