How Manchester City could line up against Tottenham Hotspur

Ahead of Manchester City's trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, Sports Mole looks at the starting lineup Pep Guardiola may select.

Manchester City will attempt to get over their recent blip when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Citizens missed out on the chance to wrap up the Premier League title last weekend in a record time and have since crashed out of the Champions League.

Next up is a tricky test against in-form Spurs, who are without defeat in the top flight since these sides last faced off four months ago.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Pep Guardiola could set up his side for the high-profile clash in North London.

Predicted Man City XI vs. Tottenham

Out: Fernandinho (suspended), Sergio Aguero (knee), John Stones (groin)
Doubtful: Benjamin Mendy (knee)

The big injury news for Man City heading into the match is that Aguero will not feature due to a knee problem that has restricted him to just 38 minutes of playing time over the past five weeks.

Gabriel Jesus is therefore expected to fill in through the middle once again, although Guardiola also has the option of playing without a recognised striker thanks to his fluid forward players.

Another key man will be absent at Wembley, meanwhile, as Fernandinho picked up his 10th yellow card of the league campaign in the 3-2 loss to Manchester United and will therefore sit this one out, so Ilkay Gundogan will likely be brought back in.

Stones misses out, too, leaving Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany as the options for Guardiola to select in the heart of defence, while at left-back Mendy still appears to be a week or so away from making a return.
