Mauricio Pochettino believes that Tottenham Hotspur deserved to beat Swansea City in Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final and reach the semi-finals of the competition.

Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur deserved to beat Swansea City and reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

First-half goals from Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela set Spurs on their way to victory in Saturday's quarter-final tie at the Liberty Stadium.

Son Heung-min had a goal ruled out by VAR before the break, but Eriksen's second goal of the afternoon then made the result safe just past the hour mark.

"It was a very good performance," Pochettino told BBC Sport after the 3-0 win in Wales. "I'm very happy and very pleased. Now, Wembley for the semi-final!

"We fully deserved the victory. We played very well. Of course when you score early it makes it easy to control the game.

"For me the most important thing is that we deserved it and the team [Spurs] played much better. We are in the semi-final because we deserve it."

Spurs are seeking a first trophy since 2008, when they won the EFL Cup.
