Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle backs Harry Kane to become the club's greatest ever striker following his hat-trick against APOEL.

Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has backed Harry Kane to establish himself as the club's greatest ever striker following his Champions League hat-trick against APOEL on Tuesday.

Kane notched his sixth treble of 2017 to take his tally for the year up to 34 - 10 more than the next highest-scoring Premier League player this calendar year.

The 24-year-old is already 14th in Tottenham's all-time list of goalscorers with 108 in just 173 matches, although he remains some way short of Jimmy Greaves's record tally of 266 goals for the club.

The likes of Bobby Smith, Martin Chivers, Jermain Defoe, Teddy Sheringham and Robbie Keane are still above Kane, but he has already passed the likes of Gary Lineker and Jurgen Klinsmann on the list.

Speaking during his television commentary for Tuesday's match, Hoddle - who himself scored 110 goals in 490 games for the club and is considered to be one of their greatest ever players - claimed that Kane could end his career as Tottenham's best ever frontman.

When asked about Hoddle's comments, Kane told BT Sport: "It's great praise. I've just got to keep doing what I'm doing."

Kane has now scored 11 goals in seven games for club and country this month.
